This article analyzes the factors and solutions that affect the effect of laser cutting stainless steel, and hopes to help you better operate the fiber laser cutting machine.
Stainless steel is a common metal material in daily life. When processing stainless steel raw materials, a large amount of cutting technology is used. At present, the most suitable way to cut stainless steel is laser cutting. The laser cutting machine technology is to irradiate the metal surface with a high-power density laser beam to melt the irradiated material, and at the same time, the molten material is blown away by the coaxial high-speed gas, so as to achieve the purpose of cutting the workpiece.
Under normal circumstances, the metal workpiece obtained by laser cutting stainless steel is of higher quality. But some users will encounter the situation that the cutting effect is not ideal. This article analyzes the factors that affect the stainless steel cutting effect and the solutions, and hopes to help you operate the
fiber laser cutting machine.
Setting of cutting height and selection of cutting head nozzle
When cutting stainless steel, the cutting height should be adjusted between 0.8mm-1.2mm. If the actual cutting height is not accurate, it needs to be calibrated. Select the appropriate nozzle size and model according to the thickness of the stainless steel, and check whether the nozzle is damaged and whether the roundness is normal before laser cutting the stainless steel. Finally, adjust the cutting parameters.
Check lens cleanliness
Check whether the protective lens is clean, requiring no water, no oil and no residue. Sometimes the protective lens will be fogged due to weather or low auxiliary gas temperature, so pay attention to cleaning the lens.
Control of focus position, cutting air pressure, cutting power and cutting speed
When
laser cutting stainless steel, if there is only slag on the corner, the corner rounding can be considered first. In terms of parameters, the focus can be reduced and the pressure can be increased.
If the workpiece is slag on the whole, it is necessary to reduce the focus, increase the air pressure, and increase the cutting nozzle, but pay attention to whether the focus is too low or the air pressure is too high, which will lead to delamination and roughness of the section.
If the whole body hangs with granular soft slag, the cutting speed can be appropriately increased or the cutting power can be reduced.
If there is slag on the side near the end of cutting stainless steel, it is necessary to check whether the gas supply is insufficient and the airflow cannot keep up.
Influence of sheet quality and auxiliary gas
When laser cutting stainless steel, the thin plate section is not bright enough, and the thick plate section is rough.
If the section of the thin plate is not bright enough, first check the quality of the stainless steel plate to ensure that the surface of the metal plate is free of rust, paint and no oxide layer. Next, check the auxiliary gas purity to ensure that the oxygen purity is higher than 99.5%. Also note that when cutting sheet metal, you need to use a small nozzle with double layers of 1.0 or 1.2, the cutting speed should be above 2m/min, and the cutting air pressure should not be too large.
If the cut section of the thick plate is rough, first ensure the quality of the plate and the purity of the gas. The second is the selection of nozzles. The larger the aperture, the better the quality of the section, but at the same time, the taper of the section will be larger.
Compared with the traditional stainless steel cutting method, the operation of the
fiber laser cutting machine is simpler and the processing is more efficient. And through the above precautions, the quality problems existing in the cutting can be well avoided. It is believed that laser cutting machines will become more and more popular in the choice of metal cutting technology.
